About every other day, my favorite seed company emails me a beautiful message filled with wildflower seed mixes on sale. Friends, I have tried, and tried again to grow fields of flowers here and it always ends in disappointment. I just didn't understand, however, I had a little incident the other day where I may have been given a clue as to why we can't have a flower farm here. I have wonderful hanging fern for the front porch and I thought that maybe my fern needed some company this year so I lined the walkway with marigold flowers in terracotta pots. Jeepers creepers, they were ripped out by their heads the other night!! Not even all the way eaten, just ripped out of the pots. Pots that are on our front porch! I mean, isn't it a little brazen for a deer to walk up to our front door to eat?? Yes. It is. And I am pretty miffed about it! But now I have a good idea of where my wildflowers went. The deer sneak in overnight and mow down everything in their path and they aren't even afraid of the front porch! Ugh.... Some of you might say, “but I love Bambi, you're so lucky to have wildlife.” but I'm telling you, it's not so great when you want to have a pretty house and studio. There goes my plans for a flower farm. Oh anyhow the point of the story is, I was inspired to have my own vineyard/farm style home and studio by the many locations I love to shoot at during the year. Like my adventure with this special high school graduate, my niece!! We spent the day in Cape May stopping at all my favorite spots. Flower and vegetable farms, wineries and the beaches! Some of these locations no longer welcome photographers, so we won't mention them. (A sad but continuing problem for those of us who DO respect our opportunity to make amazing images on a property) Respect, fellow photogs, respect! Anyhow, back to my beautiful dancing niece, since we had no time restraints, we were able to just spend the day here and there creating these images for her high school senior photos. She is a Cedar Creek high school dancer, a karate-kid and on the honor roll! We had a ball and I love every one of these images! Here's a peek at our adventure, I hope you love them!
